The following is an incident that caused injury to a consumer and was reported.

Description of what happened:
While pushing my 20 month old through a parking lot, the front wheels of the stroller collapsed, causing the stroller to completely flip over and hitting my baby’s face into the parking lot asphalt. Peg Perego Velas also have a “float strap” which becomes unattached from the seat back to give the child more freedom, so while she did not fall out of the stroller, she still had the freedom to hit her head on the street. The impact caused a bloody nose, abrasions, and a bruise on her forehead and nose. We immediately took her to the hospital to rule out broken nose and concussion (and thankfully she was fine). The failure was due to the pin that holds the front wheels in place. It is not a hinge, but a stabilizer. It is kept in place by a hex bolt that apparently wiggled itself free. It had fallen off once before, but the bolt was retrieved and put back on the pin. This stroller has a severe design defect if moderate use of the stroller (3-4 hours, 1-2 times a week on sidewalk and alphalt) causes this bolt to loosen and the pin to fall out after being tightened very well.
